I just wanted to say that I've learned more about photography since I bought my digital camera in 2005 than in the entire 10 years I dabbled with film. It's no longer acceptable to say: "I saw this fantastic _________, but missed the shot." You just can't miss the shot!!! I'm also amazed at the spectacular work appearing daily in all creative areas of Renderosity. There are a lot of talented people in here.
I also have another page with lots more photos. It has all of the stuff I'm shooting with my new Nikon D300. It's here:

LOL, I imagine that John gets a little tired of the gulls using him for a roost! Excellent shot!

Hi, This statue is a mere five minute walk from where I live so this picture immediately caught my eye - Italian born John Cabot (whose name was far less English sounding before he moved to Bristol and settled in with his family) is one of a long line of adventurers to have visited Newfoundland, there is evidence of a Viking settlement here dated five hundred years before Columbus and St.Brendan the Navigator was said to have visited these shores as well...never stayed long though....I think it was the winters that changed their mind as I can't imagine they've decreased too much in ferocity in the last thousand years - global warming or no!
