A Dutch good friend introduced me to R'osity... and now, I really feel good in this community : I enjoy a lot your friendship and comments !BIOWith a few exceptions (indicated), I'm using a simple CANON Digital IXUS i... Sometimes, I do some postwork using ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5, but I just installed Adobe PhotoShop 7.0...
But now, after having seen all these beautiful shots, I just bought (Nov 2004) myself a new camera : NIKON 70 D !
I'm a chemist, leading a small R&D team in polymers (My greatest pleasure is to stimulate creativity...) I'm also studying to become a patent attorney...
I'm living in Belgium and enjoy travelling, hiking (going out every week-end is a vital must !), reading (my French preferred authors are Marc Ly, Jean-Christophe Grang Amie Nothomb,...), music (great fan of US female voices : Jennifer Warnes, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, ...) and ... photography ! :~)
Bien cordialement aussi aux amis francophones !

These are so unlike the ones we have. The body is different in shape, the wings, and the head is also totally different. but they do have similarities and you can see they are of the same branch of the family tree. Great shot!

Woooowwww, this is great photo.5+++++

This is a fascinating animal, however it's not a praying mantis. It's a Praying Lacewing. Cousin to those cute little green lacewings that love to eat aphids. The Praying Lacewing is a wonderful example of parallel evolution with its jack-knife forelegs so similar to that of a praying mantis. Another example of similar evolution is the Mantis Shrimp. A shrimp that has evolved mantis-like forelimbs for catching fish. The photograph, by the way, is beautiful.
