Description

This is dedicated to Tiffanie and I know she is too shy to post a comment and that is ok. She is a nice little girl who said in a message to me that the pics and stories of my childhood made her happy so I wanted to do this for her. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as her and her two sisters have been through some terrible things. Maybe it is not my place to say this but for those parents and grandparents who are blessed enough to have children in your life PLEASE show them only love and respect. And if someone is hurting or abusing them in any way turn that person in because it effects the children for the rest of their lives. This is for you Tiffanie I Told Him It Was A Quarter: One memory I cannot forget is when my parents took us to the Missouri Botanical Gardens when we were little. First of all a word of advice to you parents, this is NOT the place to take little kids. LOL Yes I know it is filled with beauty and wonder but know what ..... they will be bored to tears. Well our parents took us to this place and it had beautiful fountains, flowers, and all sorts of things that kids become bored with in seconds. Our parents made the mistake of leaving us alone long enough to go to the bathroom and we found ourselves drawn to a nearby fountain. Not for it's beauty but for the shiny coins at the bottom of it. In almost seconds a argument began between my and Veronica over a certain coin about it being a nickel or a quarter. We stood on the ledge looking down on it in the swirling waters and the last thing I remember was bending over to get a extra close look and before I knew what had happened I fell in. Well since I was already wet and in there I thought I might as well see who was right so I scooped up the coin and Veronica was right, it was a quarter. At that same time our parents came walking up and my Mom had this angry, shocked look on her face. My Dad was trying to calm her and not laugh himself. Veronica looked up at them as they approached and said ( I told him it was a quarter but he wouldn't believe me ) This only added fuel to the fire as my Mom bent down and told me that if there weren't so many people around she would give me spanking right there. Instead she made me walk around the botanical gardens the rest of the day all wet and she warned me I'd better not complain about it. By the way now that I'm older and can really enjoy it for the beauty that is there i thought I should let you all see it. Here is the link http://www.mobot.org If you go there and look it really is amazing and if you watch the animations you will see a scene that is pretty close to the one I created. The Victorian building I used in here looked just like the one in the main entrance if you'll notice. Thanks for putting up with my silly stories, hope it brought a smile or two. P.S. If I vanish all of a sudden in the next couple of weeks please be patient with me but we are hoping they can get my sister into Mayo clinic at any time. I can use my cell phone to come online during that time but it is too difficult to leave messages with it.

A wonderful scene for a wonderful story. As always, I love the expressions on the kids faces. They just make the scene all the more inviting.

Just lovely Dave!!Like the fountain of Trevi in Rome, except thieves go abitually there at night to steal coins and the police turn their heads elsewhere as they get the percentage :-)),this is something sweet though and related to a beautiful childhood memory, love it!!:-)

Wonderful realization of your childhood memory! Bravo Dave! :) In my day, we would have been spanked good, right out there for God & the world to see. ;) But, as kids, we would tempt them anyway! ;) A word for parents: Kids do recognize the difference between Discipline vs Anger & Frustration! They cannot help you with your plite in life (that's up to you & God), but they can be the source of pride & joy (God's Gift). Hang in there Tiffanie, you and your Sisters are in our prayers!

What a great story, Dave--and a fabulous illustration! Sure hope things will improve for Tiffanie and sending prayers your way to get your sister into the Mayo clinic. Sure hope they can make her better! I'm sure we all understand that some things are just more important than comments on artwork!
