Description

Welcome to Mt Isa, one of the western worlds largest producers of lead and silver plus copper and zinc. The township is fairly spread out with the mine itself the main focal point with it's large smoke stacks, the candycane stripped one being the best known land mark. Jobs are readily available out here but finding somewhere to stay is rather slim....It's a dry dusty red earthed town and our first night off the road was spent here at a mates house before we set off on the road again heading further west...Mt Isa is the gateway of sorts to the Top End (Gulf of Carpenteria) or further west to Western Australia. My buddy and his 5 mates are currently drinking their way through Western Australia, they are suppose to be fishing...lol I had to come back home for work..bugger hey!

It does look like one of those towns that relies on the mine to survive. Indeed a sprawled out, dry looking place.
