Description

The models are from Excalibur Productions. The backgrounds ware from the last place anyone would think- Windows Media Player. I saved the Randomized image produced by the program as a jpeg file and imported it into Poser 7.

Actualy, DavidEMartin, it's "The StarFleet Technical Manual". Came out in 1975.

Very good! Yep, remember that Starfleet technical manual well, was given a copy as a child and read and reread it several times. Great renders!

where's the Ptolmey?..;) They were also a gaming set of models for war games in the early 70s...had a couple of them...not enough to fight in any of the 'wars', but hey, I was a teenager..;) Great pics.

Had a brainfart in regards to the correct name of Franz Joseph Design's incredible book. Thanks for the correction. The upper ship actually had a cameo as a target in a 1978 video arcade game (whose name escapes me, but it was something like "Star Fighter"). Roddenberry's hatred of the Dreadnought Class was apparently because the ship was VERY heavily armed and Roddenberry seemed to think Starfleet was not a military organization so such a ship had no place in his world..... yeah, right.....

It was also rumoured that he didn't like the military feel of the Enterprise in "The Wrath of Khan", but he created a military organization, the feel was already there.
