Jeet fidgeted on the shelf-like structure under the window. it wasn't really a bench, though he used it as one. He sighed and tried not to stare at the cute Fae woman he was imprisoned with in the corridor with. Quillip asked, "You worried about your friend,Narchi? So---you know anything about the aliens 'running amuck' in the city?" Jeet shrugged. "Not much. Lizard guys...I think. Big. Mean. High tech. They attacked someone on the airship I came to City 64 in. Yeah...I'm worried about my foster-father. He's all the family I have." Quillip looked him over with marked interest and asked with a smile,"So we should do something to distract you from worrying. How about wild animal sex, My fuzzy-tailed, pheromone-emitting friend?" Jeet smiled a bit in shock, and remarked, "Urrrm, I like you, too. Why'd you get tossed out of the Royal Wake?" She shrugged. "Putting a whoopee cushion under the Crown Prince's butt! It was a classic take-down! I got it on record for posterity." She laughed and postured around in delight. She asked slyly,"So what are those things on your nose? Head-up display? You got a wife or girl-friend? You want to take your clothes off?" He blinked at the blitz of questions and stammered out, "Glasses. They help me see up close. No HUD for me, they're unpowered. I have a friend who's a girl. We did it once. She was slow and is locked in the corridor a couple of doors away that way. I'll take my clothes off if you'll show me your boobies!" She laughed loudly as suddenly the windows snapped flat black. She trailed off as the windows turned transparent again. A bright yellow-orange light poured in from the outside. Quillip was transfixed in sick horror as she looked around Jeet. Jeet sprang up and spun to see the sight of a huge alien battleship silhouetted against the back-drop of an atomic mushroom cloud. Jeet gasped out, "Oh,crap. OH. Crap. A nuke... SOMEBODY SET OFF A NUKE! HOLY SHIT!" The sound of the explosion reached them by then, and it rumbled through the super-structure of the Floating City. They kept waiting to see if radiation alarms would go off or not. The ship blurred out of sight with such speed, it almost seemed to vanish as if snatched away. Quillip flowed up against Jeet and buried her face in his chest and wept,"It's gone! That city." Jeet blinked in shock, "What? What city? Who?" Quillip looked out the window and said with finality, "Flying City number One,Refuge, is gone. It's been blasted out of the sky! That's almost ten thousand people!" He hugged her back and wept as well. Even though everyone on that city would have delighted to have seen him and all Beastmen dead, Jeet didn't feel happy seeing anyone die. --TO BE CONTINUED!-- Media--the usual things.
