Description
Looking at each other, they sighed.
-----“Think anything has really changed?”
_”Well, we can only hope that what we saw meant that Death has left.”_
-----“And if it hasn’t?”
_”BUZZ KILL!”_
-----“Great.”
Amanda reached out and opened the door, ever so slowly. As it creaked its way open, the room was once again revealed. No more hangings, no more cold, the darkness gone. There was a bed by the wall, a computer desk with a computer, ceiling fan, mirror, and most of your average late teenage boy stuff; clothes in the floor- dirty and clean, if there was a carpet, it was clean…the clothes were thick enough to stop anything from getting to it. The ceiling fan was running, and the light was off.
-----“Ohhhhh, thank God.”
_”Yeah, the feeling is the same here.”_
They entered the room and Perry reached up and turned on the light.
-----“So, sis, what first?”
_”Check the computer.”_
Perry paused where he stood.
-----“No…it can’t be that simple.”
Amanda shrugged.
_”I don’t know why it wouldn’t. We’ve gotten past the hardest part. Now all we have to do is look for what he left us. I figured it would all be right here at the computer.”_
Amanda sat down at the desk and moved the mouse. The screen that came up was the average login screen of any computer. Charlie’s name was up for the login name, but no password.
_”So, any idea what his password is?”_
-----“Yeah, your middle name.”
_”…………WHAT………..”_
-----“You know how he felt about you. Ever since you died, it’s been your middle name.”
_”Well….at least no one could guess it.”_ Amanda typed a rather long word into the password area.
-----“What does it mean again?”
_”Well, the first part means either ‘cinnamon’ or ‘spice’ and the rest, ‘of a southern bell’…kind’a like, ‘spice of the south’”_
-----“Cinabbella”
_”Say it again and I’ll cut something off.”_
She said this with such an authority, Perry dared not test it. She hit the ‘enter’ key and the desktop came up. There was a notepad open, it read;
>Hey guys, if everything went ALMOST as planned,
>then you are reading this. I know what you are
>looking for, but you know I have to make it hard
>to find…or it will be pointless. So, here’s your
>clue to finding me…
>On the edge of light and dark
>Where life and Death marry
>Where sin and innocence battle
>I will be.
They both leaned over and read….
-----“Wellllll……I know I understand what it means……if I were mad I would anyway.”
_”It’s actually quite simple, if you just put your mind to it.”_
-----“Hmmm….ok….I still have no effing clue.”
_”Damn, Perry, did you get dumber with age? You should be able to figure this out in no time.”_
-----“Sis, we’ve spent so long figuring how to get you back…I try to let my brain rest now. Besides, you seem to know already…so give.”
_”Either the arctic or Antarctic circle. Sin and innocence….it’s gonna be somewhere there is both fire and ice in the same spot. Like a hot spring or something.”_
-----“It might be Iceland…but I’m not sure that falls in the circle…if it doesn’t, it’s damn close.”
_”That does sound right…”_
-----“But why the hell there in the first place?”
_”Because…as far as I can figure, it would be that last place he would be. I mean, other than a short visit, for the beauty and whatnot…why would anyone go there?”_
-----“Ok, so we think we know where he is…now, don’t we need his wand to get him right again?”
_”Yeah, but that will be easy enough to find. I can scry for it. I’ll do that so we can get it first. That way, when we find him, I won’t take that long to get him right again.”_
-----“Yeah, but that in itself will be complicated…I saw the spell that has to be done. I know what it entails. Somehow we’ll have to get him back here, for one. Then that’s where it gets really complicated.”
_”Yeah, but once we get him back here, the magik of this place will keep him here until we can complete the spells needed…but I do see what you mean…getting him BACK will be the hardest part of the whole thing.”_
-----“So, when do you plan to find the wand?”
Amanda looked at the time on the computer.
_”Right after we get something to eat. I hate scrying on an empty stomach.”_
They filed out of the room and down to the kitchen. After a long sit with a rather large amount of food being eaten…they returned to the living room. Amanda was carrying a world map and Perry was carrying a small crystal tied to the end of a string. After pushing the couch out of the way and setting up the map, Amanda took her place at the edge of the large picture, holding the end of the string; slowly rotating it clockwise…going over the map, back and forth. As it swung back and forth, it slowed; finally coming to a stop.
-----“You have GOT to be kidding…”
_”Well…it does appear to be there. I know I did everything right so…”_
-----“BUT THAT’S THE PACIFIC OCEAN! Right smack dab in the MIDDLE of the Pacific Ocean.”
_”Then, I guess we’re going to have a time getting to it. You didn’t really think that this was going to be easy, did you?”_
With gritted teeth, Perry spoke again, “Easy would have been on land…dry land.”
_”Like I just said, you didn’t think this was going to be easy, did you?”_
Amanda was smiling slightly when she said this…not because of how easy it was going to be to get the wand, but because she knew her smile would really infuriate Perry, making him think that she knew something that he didn’t.
