Description

Shortly after gouging out Armod Beard's eye, Egil Skallagrimsson and his men traveled to the farm of Thorfinn at Eida Wood near the border between Norway and Sweden. While dining, Egil noticed a sick woman lying on the dais. Thorfinn told him that she was his daughter Helga, who had been down with a wasting sickness. Egil had the woman removed from her bed so that clean bedding could be put down. He noticed a whale bone with runes carved on it concealed in the bedding. He scraped the runes away and burned the bone. Egil then carved different runes and placed them under the pillow. Immediately Helga's condition improved and her parents offered Egil whatever assistance he might need. Thanks for viewing!
