Description
Once upon a time in a kingdom on a planet far, far away there lived a maiden fair. She had the bluest of blue eyes and her hair was the color of spun gold. Her name was Anaria. This beautiful maiden was the daughter of King Thandalose. This particular king was the king of the fairies on the planet Alluria. As you can imagine, Anaria was the king's pride and joy. Now it seems that most princesses have a sweet tooth and Anaria was no different. Her favorite treat was berries of the sweet and divine kind. Merchants from throughout the land would bring all sorts of delicately flavored berries to the castle. With the passing of time, Anaria grew tired of the common variety of berries and wanted something new. Oh dear, oh me, oh my. What was the king to do? The most exotic known berries had already been brought to the castle. How could there be anything else more wonderful? Being the clever king that he was, he sent squires throughout the kingdom with a proclamation. The proclamation said: "he who brings the most wonderful berry delicacy to the castle will marry his daughter." Now there was just one little catch to all of this. Princess Anaria would be the taste tester of all the berries brought to the castle. Sumptuous berries were brought to the castle's great hall for three days and threes nights. None of these delicacies seemed to impress the princess. Just as the king thought no more berries could be found, a young lad came along with an old worn out sack. His clothes were not made of the royal finery. He looked like an every day farmer. It would seem that he had been traveling for some time. Because the invitation was open to all in the kingdom, the young lad was not turned away. Gingerly the lad opened his sack and pulled out some berries. These berries did not have the appearance of a fine delicacy. In fact they seemed somewhat worse for the wear. Anaria just knew that these berries would not be sweet. Just before Anaria started to taste the berries, the young lad said that there was one requirement before they could be tasted. The requirement was that the taster had to clear their mind of all thoughts. Anaria closed her eyes and did just that. All of the thoughts that she had had about these berries just flew right out of her head. She drew her hand to her mouth and popped in one large berry. To her surprise, it was the most delicious berry she had ever tasted. At that moment, the young lad's clothes transformed and before Anaria stood a most handsome prince. And they married and lived happily for forever. The end. The moral of this story is: always look beyond appearance to see the gift within. Appearances are just facts and facts always change.
