I have no idea what it is about this, but so help me, I really like it a great deal! The colors are a fantastic mix--great contrasts--but that's all I can definitely point to as a specific thing I like about it. Other than that, I just know I like it! :D

The part in the middle gives a look of floating a good distance from the deep red and black background. Is it my eyes? :-) Anyway, the effect accomplished here is spectacular. The whole image is outstanding! Nice, Robert!
