Description

Legume lovers rejoice ... this is Fred's Famous Peanuts in the mountains of Northern Georgia. If you're ever in the vicinity of Robertstown, ya gotta stop by. (I think it's manditory in these parts.) Mrs. Fred is on duty to shell out (...sorry, I couldn't help myself) peanuts that are boiled, fried, roasted, and brittled as well as a few other necessities of life. I have visited a few times and never seen Fred ... not sure what the ol' gal has done with him... ;'] As I was preparing for a long drive this day, I left with Cajun boiled peanuts, Cajun fried peanuts, a peanut/pecan brittle, and a bottle of apple cider. Now there's some good munchies...

I was just telling a friend of mine about boiled peanuts. He had never heard of them being done that way.I am from New Orleans now in Oregon and my step grandpaw was from Laural Mis. and that is how he cooked them.Cool shot

Now that's the kind of place I always stop at when I'm on the road. Maybe Fred just got tired of all the nuts around and cracked up!!

Goodness, how delicious, eating goober peas! Okay - I've actually never had boiled peanuts. I'll reserve judgement. I'm thinking there's more than a few nuts around here cracking up! Marilyn may just be at the top of the list - what do you think? :)

Fred is not famous... I've never heard of these peanuts before. Great shot of this peanut stand and it sure sounds like a place I'd love to check out.
