Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)Â
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

Looks like some kind of Mimosa
JeffG7BRJ
It looks very much like the 'Lesser Known Bottle Brush'. It's a fantastic thing whatever the name Alan, i shall return frequently until somebody comes up with the correct name. Great detail when viewed large, I thought at first it had sharp points but on closer inspection it loks to have little postules at the tip of each spine, I don't think you could call them petals. Well spotted and captured. Bravo!!!!!

A nice shot! This is a 'Red Baja fairy duster', CALLIANDRA species, Family: Leguminosae. Calliandra californica, or red Baja fairy duster , is a low, evergreen shrub mounding to 3 or 4-ft. Suited to desert or tropical effects. Soil: Moist soil, prefers good drainage. Sun: Reflected sun to part shade. Water: Highly draught resistant, but supply with regular water until established and later to maintain bloom in warm season. Temperature: Foliage and stem damage around 28F (-2C). Stem damage at 26F (-4C) and lower. Recovers quickly in spring. Maintenance: Little care erxcept for occasional grooming or weed control. This information is straight out of 'Plants for Dry Climates'. .

Great shot!

Very cool! Something different and wonderful. Beautiful shot! I've not seen this before. Of course if it's a "Plant for Dry Climates," that would explain why it's new to me! I don't think anyone would describe Seattle as "dry."

This is 'Albizia Julibrissin'.....a Silk Tree, also known as Mimosa tree. This is a wonderful photo, and the red blossoms are stunning. I have a pink one, which doesn't do too well, too moist here.... These trees can get up to 35' tall, and make the most wonderful shade trees.

beautiful....

Astonishing coulours. It reminds me the Albizia trees seen for the first time in Périgord, South of France. Beautiful shot.
