Description
I watched in horror with the rest of the world the events that unfolded on September 11, 2001. Like many others, I wanted to help out, but didn't know how. To alleviate this frustration, I sat down at my computer and made this image.
May those who were affected by 9/11 find peace in their lives.

Thank you for making this. September 11 was my 18th Birthday, and I was up that morning, writing a paper for my English class at 9:30. I had my window and curtain opened so I could enjoy the view (I was on the other side of the bay) when I heard a deep, but loud noise. I thought it was my roommate but I kept writing anyway. I stopped after fifteen minutes and looked out the window and saw the one tower on fire. I went up onto the sunroof where other people had gathered and we saw the second plane hit. I took pictures with my camera, unable to comprehend what I saw, from the plane hitting to the tower collapsing. Since September I have gone into the city - a lot - and certain faces stick out to me... Kevin Michael Williams... Patrick S. Murphy... Welles Remy Crowther... Jennieann Maffeo... Nick Brandemarti... People I never knew but whose faces on those missing posters stuck with me indelibly... there are so many. I fortunately didn't lose any, but it has still scarred me deeply for so many different reasons. My roommate lost eleven family and friends, and my best friend's cousin was the first fire-fighter killed. My friend Kristen lost her brother and uncle, and my friend Iv lost most of his co-workers. I can't say I lost anyone I knew, but as a nation, we lost so much, and it has touched me deeply. My family, and many other people, who didn't see it are already moaning whenever it comes on the news or there's something else. I guess they don't know what it's like to watch a national monument fall and know in your heart you watched over 3,000 people die. I guess that's one thing TV can't capture. -=My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night. But, ah, my friends, and, oh my foes -- it gives a lovely light!=- Edna St. Vincent Millay
