I like! Did you play around with the idea of quietening the surrounds to the globe? the colours do differentiate it to some degree (the mauves particularly). One way, messy and slow, is to take it into PS (I use Painter) open a new layer and paint over the area to be quietened in some appropriate solid colour (you can change the colour later if you so wish with the paint bucket). Do this at a high magnification for greatest accuracy. When finished adjust the transparency slider for that layer and the interaction with the lower layers can be balanced to taste. (You probably know this already, and if so apologies). There is nothing lost by the exercise, for the new layer can be scrapped or ignored if the results are not to taste, but the judgemental process is invaluable.
