Description
This mill was built in 1481 as part of the city wall to be a secure flour supplier in case of being under siege.
Aligned with the main wind direction to the south-west, the mill stands on a three floor high base, and has a diameter of 8.70 meter. In 1642 a Hessian-French siege army shot a breach in the wall next to the mill and conquered the town. The mill was slighted.
In 1659 the mill tower was rebuilt, in 1911 the upper part of the mill burnt down completely, in 1926 it collapsed during an earth quake, later a complete restoration followed and since 1966 the mill has its wings again.
