Description

Vikititi makes her final journey to her resting place in the Valley of the Kings, carried up the Nile by the same Royal Barge that she had used in her lifetime. Thousands of mourners came to the shoreline to pay their respects to their much loved Pharaoh as she sailed past for the last time. But her death had created a power vacuum in the country. The next few years saw terrible civil war as rival generals fought for supremacy. When at last one was victorious and assumed the title of Pharaoh, starting a new Dynasty, sentiment had turned against Vikititi. Some were embarrassed that they had been ruled by a woman, and her memory had been tarnished by the fighting and turmoil that followed her. The new Pharaoh, wanting to establish his own identity and lineage, systematically removed all reference to Vikititi from documents and monuments, until her memory faded like the wind from the desert. Which is why, if you read a history of Ancient Egypt today, you will not find any reference at all to Vikititi – The First Female Pharaoh! The End A Huge "Thank You" to all who have followed this story, it has been a pleasure (and sometimes a struggle!) to complete, but I am delighted with how many of the pictures have turned out. Back to more general pics for a bit! And taking a break. Phil

Cool idea and posing, especially those on the barge, although it looks like the barber had his work cut out for this parade.

Nice ending. At least it wasn't her tooth that killed her, as was likely the case with her real life counterpart (or at least one of them).
