Description

Location: Berlin, Technik - Museum The good old "Auntie JU", the legendary JU-52 from the Junkers Airplane Works, seen here in the Berlin Technikmuseum in the colors of the german airline "Lufthansa" from 1932. These airplanes are for Germans as important as the legendary Douglas DC-3 for Americans. The Junkers Ju-52 is the most famous german airplane. More then 4 800 were build. First constructed in 1930, was this airplane the beginning of the civil airline "Lufthansa", but this airplane was from its beginning constructed for military use as a light bomber plane and as a troopers transportation vehicle, too. Nearly every points in Europe were served, and many european airlines had some, so Italy, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Switzerland and others. Junkers JU-52 were the main airplanes in whole Latin America, and a lot of them served for decades. Nearly unbelievebale: The last airplane should be in regular service in Ecuador until 1989 and served the line from Quito across the Andes till an airport down in the Amazonian wood... This airplane here is in a flyable condition, a second Ju-52 is to rent at the Berlin airport, and I can see it at some summer days above..... It´s a pure joy for me to share THIS with you: As I took these pics inside the museum, I was an absolute photographs beginner and had never done a pic inside. The result was more then bad, it was a complete desaster..... Only a few of this pics survived, the others are in pixel heaven since a long time... I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for looking in. Have a nice saturday`s evening:

A really nice picture. Brings out the details and colors perfectly. A very interesting write-up as to the history of this aircraft. I remember as a boy my father used to talk about this legendaty aircraft.

What a great view of this legendary airplane. I took a photo of the one on display at NASM Dulles Airport, but the lighting wasn't near as good as your view. Glad you got the shot!
