Description

The Empire was expanding. The planetary system was theirs at last, and it had to be guarded. These far-flung and inhospitable sites were to be monitored by mechanical men. For years, these lone silent sentinels watched and reported if any threat was perceived. Science of course advanced, and Argus was born - remote sensing made the robots redundant. They were gathered up and returned home, all except one. Overlooked, on a lone outpost the last mechanical man - W_118_UR, watched and waited. Centuries past, and still it diligently monitored non-existent threats, reporting back to non-existent ears. Powered by a miniature nuclear-fusion power source, good for centuries more to come. He (for by now it thought of itself as a person) called himself 'Wilbur', and he dreamed of returning home. Perhaps to a hero's welcome, after so long on duty, unaware that nobody knew he was there... Inspiration from hundreds of Sci-Fi stories, robotart.com, and way too much time on my hands. Textures from Mayang. C4D 10.11 / PSP9 for butterfly, backdrop and logo. Thanks for dropping by.

Wonderful sense of humour! We must look at the picture after reading your crazy text!!! Super! Wilbur is a real heroe...a little bit tired, isn't it?

I like the robot but I'm not too keen on the background. Perspective looks off also.

Cool model! I came across that site robotart.com a while ago. The robots on that site are great. Next time please use a higher res background. The resolution related artefacts in this one are not so nice.

This would make an excellent web comic. Bring the little guy back and have him start looking for his comrads. It would take many adventures.

I know this has been posted forever, but I just saw it. So poignant-- VERY nice!!!! Considering the added short story, definitely 5+++++++++! Thanks!
