Description

Funny thing...this is only a slight departure from my previous "Nemaean" images. I was out today, voraciously snapping pictures of an abandoned piece of equipment from an old steel-working facility in Dortmund when I happened across this little fern, growing out of a tiny little lump of moss, right ON the piece of local history that I was photographing. I wound up with about 90 shots of the thing, but this one is the most surprising. This may actually be a spoiler for some, but the non-plant subject of this photo is actually what the "Nemaean" spaceships are composed out of. And as an admirer of science fiction and art in general, I love the fact that NOW I can go a few streets around the corner and see a bona fide spaceship...sort of. As always, thank you for stopping by, viewing and commenting, and I hope this is a piece of work you can enjoy as much as I made while making it.

Beautiful! I have tried to capture the same thing, ferns growing in cracks in stone, but never managed this beautifully. :)

Beautiful contrast between the old metal texture and forbidding massiveness of the heavy equipment and the fragile life form, that is reconquering the industrial wasteland. Cool image.

This is cool, chip. I love the industrial feel to this and then a smidge of green life popping through. I perfect example of the fact the life will find a way to shine through.
