Description

G-BOAC The oldest Concorde in the BA fleet, currently resting at Manchester Airport & being used for weddings & corporate bun-fests. What a waste! What a shame! The crowning aviation technological achievement of the 20th Century, and this is how she ends up. I remember the day that she made her last flight in from Heathrow, the roads were lined with ordinary people who just couldn't believe that this superb aircraft would never take to the skies again. Photo taken on my mobile phone, so apologies for the banding in the clouds!!

I was lucky enough to see a Concorde at one of the Oshkosh Air Shows one summer. When those Olympus jet engines fired up and sent her skyward down the runway it was awe inspiring and deafening. The vibration went right through your body. I doubt we will see another of her kind during our lifetime. We were all lucky to see this glimpse into the future while we could. Thanks for sharing.

At least they are putting these elegant and one of a kind planes in museums or saving them like this one. Great capture and title.

Nice photo. Agree with your comments. Saw both, the BA and Air France Concords arrive and depart at Kennedy in May 1978. As to current use, could have been worse. Could be in a scrap yard. But still a shame.
