Description

There's a set of woods north of here, where we go to visit often. It was a gloomy and windy day when this picture was taken. My daughter was wearing a red hoodie and hiding from her children and I thought, "oh wow, opportunity here." We took more then 40 shots. That night I worked in Photoshop. I made the woods spookier then they really were. Added some dripping moss from the limbs and messed with the color of the sky. Then I repainted my daughters hair because you couldn't see the texture in the photograph. I had to really work on the hoodie to turn it into a red cape. After adding the wolf, I thought, I'm going to make this classic fairytale have a fairy. I loved doing this piece. It took me some time, but I am very pleased with the way it turned out. When my daughter showed it to her children, they gasped and asked, "There was a wolf behind us?" They're very young. Ah...to have the heart of a child! A wolf with glowing eyes - spooky! I like the way the fairy connects with the toadstools, and they in turn point to the wolf, but the red robe,the beautiful face, and those fingers catch our attention and make the picture memorable - particularly for you, I'd guess.
