Great globe ! Have you tried making a Mars or a Europa, or Io or any other type of solar system body ? If they're as detailed as this they'll look great.

Wow, that's really great for "simple". The shallow coastal regions look great. All you need is mountain ranges and you're set.

This is a fantastic piece, aside from adding clouds, I wouldn't do much more. I do agree with geirla that mountain ranges would also work nicely, but as it stands, this image is a great piece of work on its own. It makes an excellent planetary study. Just as a side note, I once saw an image of a volcano erupting from orbit, and a play on that image would work nicely here as well. Like your image, the NASA picture was taken on a rather cloudless day for whatever region was photographed. It looked like a part of the Pacific Rim and the dominant feature was a whispy smear of volcanic ash, arcing across the ocean. This may not be something that you're going for, but it's just an idea that I threw out there, just in case it could be useful to you. Great work though, and I look forward to more.

Superb render. The blue border of the planet is a wonder. Now, some clouds, please ? :o)

I love the velvet-like edge of the oceans at the horizons. It really sells the picture. What kind of shader are you using?

It's just a surface layer, nothing really special.
