Description

A view of the lower platforms of the Hauptbahnhof. These underground platforms are used by about 400 trains daily, including the 2nd generation of the ICE. The approach is from north/south and is underground, including going under the river Spree. On the left part of the photo is an ICE (Inter City Express) train and on the tracks next to it one can see the sound-proofing between the tracks and railroad ties. This picture was taken in September 2006. Thanks for the comments on the previous uploads of this series. Have a nice Sunday!!!
