Description

Well, here's a little something different from me! This is a photograph of a painting. There's a history here, so bear with me: Many years ago, in the late 1980s, I took an art class from a man named Jay Kahn. (You can check out my bio if you're interested in that part of the story.) He was primarily a painter, although he did other things as well. I've tried looking him up on the internet, but have had no luck. Anyway, Jay had done several pieces that hung in the Seattle Aquarium, as well as at least one large painting for Providence Hospital. This is the painting he did for Providence. I saw it 20 years ago, hanging in the main lobby at the hospital. It's very large - probably four feet tall and seven or eight feet wide. I haven't seen Jay for years, and had forgotten about the painting. Last month when I met Vaggabondd and Lizzibell at the hospital, Randy and I were walking around talking. We turned a corner, and WHAM! There was this painting that I hadn't seen for 20 years. We looked for a signature, to no avail. That's okay - I'm not guessing. I know exactly who painted it! So while to you, this might just be a photograph of a very cool painting by somebody you don't know, for me it's a link to a pice of my history. Jay is the one who got me past my initial fears about making art and got me to start doing things other than fiber arts and music. So this is for Jay Kahn, wherever you are! I haven't forgotten you, or the lessons you taught me, and I'm still making lots of art. You've influenced my life in a profound way. Thank you!

I also thought it a photo of lillies on a pond, and then looking at the title I thought you were refering to Monet. It certainly is a fantastic work of art. I enjoyed reading and nice dedi to Jay Khan. Beautiful work!

So, we all have this man to thank, for without him it might not have come to pass that you gained confidence and direction. You may never have taken up photography and joined the family of Renderosity. So where ever you are Jay 'Thank You' for without you or lives might not have been so full. Wonderful photo and story Tara, made very interesting reading. Bravo!!!!!!
