the shadow between the characters tail and what I assume is a backdrop image kills the illusion of depth. you should set the picture to not recieve shadows.

Thanks for all the kind comments. I thought with Halloween approaching we need to see some scary creatures. Madfishsam i agree with your comment about the shadows and the backdrop. I did not spend anytime concentrating on the background, because I was focused on the actual creature. The one thing I would have done to make this image more powerful is set it up in a proper scene. I was actually working on a huge shot with a battle between creatures and space marines, blood and guts, but Vue and 3d studio max were constantly crashing, so I knocked out this image as a substitute.
