Description

Mornin' All *S* I know, you're thinking strange title....well,the title comes from a short story written by Robert Bloch...who's Robert Bloch you say ? ...none other than the author of the short story the now legendary horror flick Psycho is based on...and for those of you who love details, Bloch based his story on the gruesome little antics of Ed Gein the Wisconsin recluse who butchered, skinned and cannibalized his female victims. Silence of the Lambs' character Buffalo Bill and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre were also based on Gein. Ok, I'm drifting....here's a little excerpt from the story Enoch to whet your literary appetite... "It always starts the same way. First, there's the feeling. Have you ever felt the tread of little feet walking across the top of your skull? Footsteps on your skull, back and forth, back and forth? It starts like that. You can't see who does the walking. After all, it's on top of your head. If you're clever, you wait for a chance and suddenly brush the hand through your hair. But you can't catch the walker that way. He knows. Even if you clamp both hands to your head, he manages to wriggle through, somehow. Or maybe he jumps. Terribly swift he is. And you can't ignore him. If you don't pay any attention to the footsteps, he tries the next step. He wriggles down the back of your neck and whispers in your ear. You can feel his body, so tiny and cold, pressed tightly against the base of your brain. There is something numbing in his claws because they don't hurt - although you'll find little scratches on your neck that bleed and bleed. But at the time, all you know is that something tiny and cold is pressing there. Pressing and whispering. That's when you try to fight him. You try not to hear what he says. Because when you listen, you're lost. You have to obey him, then. Oh, he's wicked and wise ! He knows how to frighten and threaten, if you dare to resist. But I seldom try, anymore. It's better for me if I listen, and then obey. As long as I'm willing to listen, things don't seem so bad. Because he can be soothing and persuasive, too. Tempting. The things he has promised me in that little silken whisper...." Y'all have a great day *S* ~ Love & Hugs ~ * Mina * Credits: stock xchng www.prettybrush.deviantart.com www.500mlfb.org

Wow -- Fantastic image and excellent story ... I actually caught myself rubbing my hair as I was reading. That and the fact that my grandfather's name was Enoch leads me to add this to my faves. Great work, Mina!

Fantastic image! I love the work you've obviously put into this, and being one of those literary nerd types from Chicago, I'm quite familiar with the mass murderer/serial killer lore that surrounds that particular area of the USA...AND the story that Psycho is based on...I had a roommate who was into Psycho as a movie so through him, I've been somewhat exposed to everyone from Ed Gein to Jeffry Dahmer (he cannibalized his victims too, and decorated their flayed skulls.) Back to the image though...I LOVE it! Especially your choice of colors and textures! Fantastic work, it's moving too! Great!!!!

The image is striking and fits the story so well! I am not familiar with the author but know about the source materials from my criminology days. The real trick in dealing with the little guy walking on your head is to wash your head in beer. See this gets him drunk! So wasted in fact all he can think to do is sing old bar songs in your ear, instead of talking you into trouble. I admit, its a bit discouraging at times going around having to listed to Ninety-nine bottles of beer on the wall or Row row row your boat, being sung over an over and over again. But its better that than trying to cultivate a taste for human flesh or having to try to learn to sew all that skin into fashionable wear. :O)

Ed Gein was the product of an alcoholic father and a strict Bible breathing mother who instilled the belief that all women (herself excluded) are evil prostitutes deserving extreme debasement. What's not to love about an upbringing like that? LOL Excellent image dearest Mina ... certainly gets to the heart of unconscious homicidal urgings springing to life. Well done! HUGS

Ooooh, Mina, you really are into the Halloween thing! I have not read any of this guy's stuff, and probably won't, I get way to weirded out by that stuff. Awesome image, and your choice of which portion of the story to show is delightful reading!

Your image is fantastic, and it wonderfully illustrates the text by Robert Bloch. Excellent work, Mina. Now, that said, I will pass on his books, and those of Ed Gein. Psycho marred me for life. LOL Hugs, Suzanne ;-)
