Description

Every year at Halloween, my lawn becomes a graveyard. Ghouls, skeletons and ghosts are commonplace. The preparation for this holiday around here is extensive. The best part is that all I have to do is take pictures! I have a duplex, and my upstairs neighbor and friend of many years is a total freak about Halloween. He takes several days off work to set up and tear down his yearly masterpiece. On Halloween night he gives out full-sized candy bars. I've included Lance's picture so you can see how much he's enjoying this process! He's the one in the lower right-hand corner. Oops! Nope - that's not right, my mistake - he's center, top. :) This is what my place looked like on Saturday afternoon at about 5:00. Most people would stop at this point and call it good. (Well, probably better than good!) Not Lance. He will continue to add more decorations over the next few days. On the 31st, he'll be setting up the final bits - things he doesn't want to leave out unattended. After the trick-or-treating is done, after everyone has gone to bed, he'll be out in the yard taking the more sensitive and expensive things down and packing them away. I'm hoping it doesn't rain that night! I'm planning on being out there with my tripod, taking available-light shots. What you see here is only the beginning!

I remember when I had the energy to do this sort of thing for Halloween. And so did so many others. My neighbors had a coffin in the front window with a body in it. Another lady opened her house - go in the front door and follow the arrows that led you through a haunted house and your candy was at the end of it.

We've only just begun....ghoulies and ghosties and things that go bump in the night, such as costumed urchins shoving each other aside while converging simultaneously on the same front door! Great collage of a noble effort by Lance, dedicated to my most favorite holiday of the year. Way to go, Tara! Love everything displayed!

I miss over the top fun Halloween and I am glad to see that there are people around who still love to do it. Great work here, and I love the crispness and spirit of giddiness that these images have captured! Fantastic!

What a fun Halloween setup! I've had 4 kids so far...very disappointing as I give out handfuls to each kid. Got buckets of the stuff sitting here now.

It's been a while since I've been in your gallery, Tara. Good job on this. Our family used to be the same way when we lived in California. The good old days. :)
