I'm a veteran and a n00b. I've spent many years in traditional print graphic/design. Bigtime Adobe Ai, PS user.
Fairly new to 3D, though I've been using C4D, Poser, Vue for about 4 years. Renderosity is a great place to get info and support for all kinds of artistic expression. Remember: You're not insane, no matter what the voices in your head keep telling you.

Sweet! The sense of depth is very well done in this picture.

Great action scene, the girl looks wonderful and the idea is excellent. I see you have used the grass thats supplied with Vue. It's OK for grass in the distance but may I suggest purchasing some. They are so much better and would have really added to the realism of this scene.

Believe it or not, the grass is a Poser prop "RDNA Fields - Volumetric Field Figure" by Traveler. I've since purchased some other Vue grasses, namely CoverScape by Digital3DStudio so I'll be using them soon. As it was, this image took 43 hours to render. :o Thanks for looking!

Great image and feel! I think I'd like to see a boom-mike shadow. Excellent work!

Grass can be manufactured with alpha planes... It saves on CPU resources, too. Any plane object can be textured on the diffuse channel with the grass color and on the transparancy channel with an alpha matte of the same image. (Can make alpha mattes in Photoshop or Gimp). Of course there are many other creative things alpha mattes can do. While there's a good market for CGI meshes and effects, most can be made by hand using just about any of the 3D programs available, with little skills required. One only need to know the process. As for this scene, the action looks well staged.
