Description

Hello all!! Just got back from Santa Barbara (went for the weekend). Yesterday morning somehow I managed to wake up at 5 no alarm (I told my mind to be the alarm and it actully worked lol) and so snuck away from my sleeping family to go walk along the beach out by/at the pier. ...IT was really dark when I first got there and I wondered how I can shoot a decent sunrise at a California beach as the sun sets in the west. So facing west I didn't expect much with the sun coming from the east(realizing I hadn't seen a sunrise on the Pacific ocean since I was camping in the 90's, and never there in Santa Barbera) . I then walked out to the pier to shoot pelicans but they were all gone (...guess they are there only in the spring when I normally come...) Much to my surprise I realized there was a bay there to the southeast. The sun was coming up over mountains by the harbor- The unexpected is always such a nice surprise isn't it?!! ... All alone out there 'cept for a few dock workers. It was incredibly beautiful and peaceful and I wondered why don't more people come out and watch the sunrise? Couldn't decide which one to upload so put all 5 in progression of my walk here... which one do you like best? * best at full size * Thanks for all your time and comments. You are so good to me on here and I feel bad cause I haven't had time to come on and comment hardly will try and catch up here as I love nothing more than to see all your beautiful and very inspiring work !!! .. Love to all!!! ((( BIG HUGS ))) ♥ Kimmers :O)

Faaaaaabulous! I can't pick the best one. They all have their reason for being a Favorite. I'll explain. Number 1, Great Interest in the composition because it has beach, water, pier then mountains which at first I thought were clouds, the clarity and vibrant hues are superb. Number 2, all different reasons, pier comes to the boats, all silhouetted with traces of red on the clouds above,. . .lovely, Number 3 Mountains, boats and waves, and those soft, smooth waves are so clear. . .Number 4 As with all landscape shots, something in the foreground always adds so much and in this case doesn't take away, just frames the rest. . .Number 5 The off center sun trail with the perfect configeration of boats has a smooth clean feeling of simplicity and warmth. Whew!

Beautiful sunrise shots, Kimmie. So glad that you are able to focus on beauty and light and not the dreadful smoke and fire. Hope life in your corner of the area is settling back to normal for you and your family!

Probably the only thing I miss about living in Southern California is sitting on the beach watching the sun come up and then walking back down to the end of the street and off on the sand to watch it go down. It is peaceful and warms the heart. I also wondered why more people didn't come out to watch it too but I'm glad they didn't since it gave me the entire beach to myself. I bet now, 30 years later, the beaches aren't quite as desserted. Wonderful shots and I'm glad you posted them all.

This is a fantastic collection of shots, beautifully captured. Early morning shots always provide striking colors and silhouettes such as these and the water-capture is particularly calming. Great work! These shots are also making me feel a strong sense calm. Great work.

A sublime series of shots and a superb collage, Kimmers. It is good to stride the beach alone on a morningtime, darling. Blows all the cobwebs away. Your have captured beautiful light and mood. Love the lone seabird and the drifting boats. Beautiful work, dear Kimmers. Huge hugs. Diane. xx
