Description

Elmer McCurdy was never cut out for the life of an outlaw. Joining a gang of bank and train robbers after leaving the military McCurdy dismally bad at it. Finally, after a botched train robbery McCurdy went down in a gunfight after proclaiming he wouldn’t be taken alive. His body was taken to a local mortuary where, after nobody claimed it was embalmed by the undertaker who put it on display charging a nickel for a gander at the bandit who refused to give up. And in a strange irony McCurdy ended up earning more money dead than he ever did alive. Over the next sixty years the mummified corpse of Elmer McCurdy passed from one owner to the next eventually ending up in a fun house in Long Beach, California his identity forgotten along with the knowledge he was ever a once a living person. Then, one day while an episode of the six million dollar man was being filmed in the fun house a crewman working on the show noticed something odd about a nearby mummy. Upon closer inspection he realized that it wasn’t a prop at all. (needless to say his departure from the fun house wasn’t very dignified) A subsequent investigation by the police and coroner eventually discovered the identity of the mummy. With his name restored the earthly remains of Elmer McCurdy received his LONG overdue burial. (with two cubic yards of concrete poured over the grave to insure McCurdy would stay there. And thus ended the strange but true story of Elmer McCurdy, gods own idiot.
