Description

This is one of the birds I’ve been chasing all summer, finally in the park today one cooperated. Pileated Woodpeckers are normally not a very social bird, I was amazed that this one landed about 15 feet above me in the open and didn’t seem to care I was so close. I hope all is having a great week and thanks for your views and comments.

Gorgeous shot! We have woodpeckers that come to our birdfeeder all the time, but I don't have the right lens to get such a clear shot! This is awesome! :^)

Great shot of a usually shy bird! There are quite a few around here but all I get are bits and fuzzy pieces... lol Love the detail you've captured.

Oh my! These birds are SO hard to capture in a picture! We hear them out in the woods in back of our house...no mistaking when they're making a hole in a tree...it sounds like a machine gun!! Elusive bird. Congrats on capturing him!
