Description

Another shot from Planet Pig. This is my favourite out of any render I have done so far. It utilizes more of TG2's strengths in one image because I worked more with surfaces. I'm exploring the planet a bit, trying to find a good place to get a closer render of the greenish lower ground surfaces but haven't found an interesting POV from down there. This is ideally a water area but I need transparency for it to work well. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Wicked surface textures mate. Looks almost like leather with a good shine mixed in with an octopus face in the lower right corner!! WICKED man!! Great stuff.

Thanks. I saw an alien head emerging from the rocks on the top right. That's what drew me to this POV. Planet Pig turns nasty after sundown.

None of my pieces of work are technical demonstrations. The technique is only a means to an end, be that fantastic worlds or earth like scenes and TG2 can now now do both which is great. I just happen to like creating more fantastic worlds. I appreciate any work whether realistic earth like scene or not. Every artist has a different style. If I were to try to create a completely realistic scene then for me that would be a technical demonstration.

Nice technical demo again... nevertheless I would like to see your skills in more classic scenes. @Efflux: For me the best scenes, futurist or realistic, are where the technique is "invisible". Here I only see a functions technical demo.

We shouldn't discuss it here but it doesn't matter if you can see the functions. They create beautiful shapes. I see perlin everywhere in CG landscapes. Are those pieces of work not good for that reason? Fake stones are voronoi you can see that but so what, it's similar to what many real stones look like. In the future we'll have more procedures to blend up and the shapes will get more intricate but I still love sine waves. you can create amazingly beautiful forms with that.

I wish I can be there for 20 min. to enjoy the feeling and to explore the landforms. Great work!

I like the flowing shapes here. To me this looks a bit like lava flows, though its sufficiently alien enough, and therefore could be anything. Nice work in my eye !

I really like the contrasting shades and smooth terrain in this image. And I agree with Jordano, as this image has a realistic feeling. Good work!

Both you and Luc have valid points - just coming from different directions. I too am a fan of otherworldly scenes, but still see the artisic value of a "natural" creation. I hope both of you exploit to the fullest what TG2 has to offer!

Fanatastic Mats Ryan with some really cool formations. Not so sure on the specularity. Nice fine details in the close up also & a good choice of camera angle :)
