Renderosity has opened a whole new world to me, its a fantastic place and have had some brilliant support from many new friends.  I retired from work very early through ill health so I took to photography from the very basics.
Since joining I have grown in confidence with my photography and I now think because of RR that I take it a little more seriously. I started off here using a Fuji Finepix 6500fd, it took some great pictures but I'm hooked now so I have now(April 2008) bought a DSLR SAMSUNG DX10 and having fun learning the settings etc. ( these things take me a while lol)ÂÂ
I am so fortunate to be with a wonderful person in my life, Sylvia. She is not just my partner but of course she's also my best friend. Previously I have been married but seperated a few years ago and have two fantastic children. I NOW have two fantastic grandchildren !!!
My interests are photography, i have had a dabble at Acrylic painting, and I enjoy long walks out in the countryside.      I also have an interest in anything historical.  I want to have a sample of just about everything there is in photography, who knows what the future holds!
Thanks for calling by.    Alan

This is great Alan, you see why I sent you on your own, I did this in reverse last year and I can tell you I was plum tuckered out when I got to the top. I really feel for that little toddler you have captured here, when your that size it must be very daunting to face that hill. I don't know if you took any more of the incline or not? I would have liked to see one from a lower pov, I didn't take any when I was there but I wish I had, from about six inches above track level would have had the rail lines dissapearing at infinity. I really like this and the people give a scale to the whole picture. It's a pity they didn't have the money to restore this to working, now that would have been something to see. I enjoyed the fun shots as well mate. Thanks for sharing them. Bravo!!!!!

Okay - did I understand you right? This is a rail track for narrow boats?? Good heavens. The more I learn about England's canal system the more I'm amazed. (The idea of an elevated canal, for example, just blows me away.) Thank you for this fascinating shot, and the accompanying information. Wow! Excellent presentation!

I'm not only fascinated by this photo but also by the story behind it. I never would have thought of something like that. This photo is wonderful for the perspective it shows in it's depth but the people there give it a very human touch.

This is a captivating history and the picture inspires imagination for these heroic pioneers.
