Description


Built in 1854,76 ft. tower was given a fourth order lens on it's lantern and was destroyed by the Confederates in 1861,so it got another lens in 1864. It is now automated and is 75 feet above sea level. It is one of the oldest active on the East Coast. It is south of Cape Hatteras and accessible by Ferry from there or by ferry from Cedar Island off Rt. 70.
