Ultrafractal 3.02 -- Apophysis...ONE(!)
WellIcouldn'tstanditanylongersoIjustHAD2uploada.......sphere!! lol
I've had this one a while from back in my severely "orbdicted" days. A respected friend said he liked it when I upped it to.....my very own/new website I'm FINALLY getting around to building(!!! - more on that, later, when it's finished) so that was the final straw that said maybe it had finally "passed muster" and could be shown. Not so artsy but I like the 3d-ishness and how the wireframe "mountains" and the "circuitry" sky remind me of the old sci-fi movie, "Tron".
Thanks for stopping by!
(psst - If anyone from the Halls of Fractal Purity asks you, say you don't know what they're talking about and that you think you may have seen me high-tailing it west on an "electrocycle"...or whatever that bike the guy in the movie rode was called...lol)
NOTE: I took Cliff's critique to heart and decided he was right. So, in lieu of moving the orb up, I just lowered the background so that the top of the orb overlaps the horizon for a better sense of depth. Thanks, Cliff! You saved me from being too lazy to redo this one that i'd made so long ago!
***(Fine art giclee' prints of most of my work are available in limited edition on archival paper or canvas - e-mail: drahcir3@hotmail.com and get busy filling that empty spot on the wall! Unique, "one-of-a-kind" (edition size = 1) prints are also available*** :-)

It is nice to see a new orb by the Orb Master. Your comment about your "orbdicted days" caused me to take a look back through your gallery. What a nice trip down memory lane that was.

Very cool! I love the way you implemented the fractal, very neat!Excellent art!

"Tron" an old sci-fi movie? But wasn't that just a couple of years ago? Am I that old already? lol. Seriously, no argument from me: I love those orbs. And I love this image. Especially those blue computerprints in the "sky".

Very well composed, it has a great perspective view.

I think of the weave of time and space.

Oh, God...now I feel old too. ;) Very nice combination of the 2 programs. It does look very "Tron-ish". (is that even a word?) Tim

I remember when Tron came out on Laser Disk! I am feeling quite old at the moment. This is a fantastic job and it definately has the feel of the movie! Well done and good luck on the website!

This is outstanding and so creative. I love your orb with its gorgeous design and the 3D effect looks great on this inspirational background.

Oh dear! I'm going to sound off-colour. the wire mountains don't work as such for me. I have no sense of distance. Rather they seem to sit a'top the sphere and as such tend to depress or constrain it. This means the horizontal "horizon" is pulled forward too. Raising the sphere slightly in the picture would have countered this effect to some extent and quietening the mountains to add a sense of aerial perspective might have worked similarly. So I have to view the picture differently but become trapped into seeing it has two halves. I like the lower part immensely (up to that truant horizon line). It has a wonderful sense of depth and the sense of contrast is in balance. The problem with so truncating the picture is the globe becomes too close to the top. Rykk, I'm seriously not trying to be critical and I'm sure what I write will be judged on its merits. Even my being wrong could be helpful in some kind of strange way.

Fantastic!

Very sci-fi, and after sitting here staring at it for a bit, I've decided it's most definitely in the "more than a little bit strange" category--but then, most sci-fi is, isn't it! Intriguing work!

Wonderful sphere/orb. Unusual background. Very sci-fi. Reminds me of some of the space visions in the Dune series.

Astonishing! You do amazing spheres, and this is no exception. Love the ground and sky too :)

I think this is fantastic, but I agree with Cliff in a sense. The wireframe 'mountains' are too sharp to be at any distance, which foreshortens the foreground (does that make sense?). If you could sort of blur that part a bit, and maybe make the wireframe light grey on a darker gray background, it would help give the sense of depth. It is a great composition :)
