Description
The door opened and she rose anticipating his arrival. Her heart beating wildly Raphael was the Kings messenger, and her hope that the news would end her exile from this manner and she could take her rightful place at court.
Raphael moved just inside the door as the servant closed it behind him. "M'lady, tis good to see you well." Her slender hands moved slowly over her gown, "It is good to see you, my friend." Folding her hands trying to regain her composure. "What news do you bring me today?"
His eyes dropped to floor as he pulled the document from the pouch at his side. Her eyes studied him, and her back stiffened afraid of what had been written. Extending the document she took it and looked at the Kings seal. Glancing at Raphael for a moment she broke the seal and began to read. "Oh no," she whispered as she sank into the chair. "He doesn't want me to come, said I am to stay here until he calls for me." Turning from him she rose and moved towards the unlit fireplace. "M'lady, I am sorry," he said quitely as he watched her. "I can't believe he doesn't want me to come." Her voice quivered and he saw a tear slide down her cheek. "I'm sure it won't be for long." He moved to stand behind the chair wanting to comfort her. "Do you have a reply for him M'lady?" Her shoulders shook gently a soft sniffle was heard her voice cracked as she spoke," No, no reply." His heart going out to her, "Please don't cry."
