Description

This Tawny Frogmouth is about 4 weeks old, the parents had 3, one was taken by a crow, the other fell out of the nest in high wind, this one stayed in the tree, we went to rescue them, but found the 2 remaining young ones had genetic defects (most of the feathers had gone from there wings) and had to be Euthanased, I will upload a picture of a healthy 4 week old chick. What a cutie - but only a mother could love it? I love those eyes. That is a sad story, but I have to ask, was it genetic defect, or was it toxic stuff in their environment? Or will we really know? Hope the next nestful of chicks has a better start in life. :o)
