Description

Enchanted Rock gets its name from the Tonkawa Indians who occupied the area between the 16th and 18th centuries. They believed ghost fires flickered at the top, and they heard weird groaning and creaking noises, which geologists now say resulted from the rock's heating by day and contracting in the cool night.
