Description

About two years ago, some great wise man here in Puerto Vallarta decided the city needed more parking. In order to make that happen, they then decided to tear down 4 very old, very beautiful parks. People were outraged, but here that doesn't make a lot of difference. So, for 3 of them, they dug huge holes, made underground parking, then created new parks on top. The fourth one, however, the one is this foto, isn't underground, it's just what you see. I took some liberties with the color, but what you see is what you get!! The other 3 parks are actually pretty nice, and lucky for me, the nicest one is just down the street from me!!!

Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone? Aside from the fact that I dislike the idea of a parking garage like this in place of a park, this is a great image. Very graphic, nicely abstract, with wonderful composition and light!

This is a great image...well...great image of something that isn't so great. Too bad a park had to be sacrificed for that...but as Harry Bouras once said. "We're gonna cut down the Amazon Rain forest one day and put up a parking lot for a shopping mall, but we're gonna paint it green because we're sentimental." He was a cantankerous old man who had a smart comment for EVERYTHING...anyway...this is a great image, and rather telling as well, and I love the liberties taken.

A visual chronical in an age where everything must be built just in time to escalate the next level of sacrifice.
