Description
Mt. Fuji, Japan.
About 15 minutes after we had taken off from Yokota AB we broke through the clouds and the pilot announced that to our left was Mt. Fuji (3776m). So I took my camera and took this picture. This turned out fine for me, since I had travelled to Mt. Fuji by train, boat, and bus and I had visions of a perfectly cone-shaped, white-capped mountain and cherry blossoms.
Well, the cherry blossom season was over, and it rained all day and the mountain was obscured by clouds. I did not see anything of Mt. Fuji until we arrived at the reststop halfway up the mountain. The view from there wasn't anything I had envisioned.
This photo was also taken in June 1967 and was scanned after 34 years.
