This is most interesting... I swear the bird's stance reminds me of a Plains Indian dance, especially with the beautifully marked feathers... and the monkey pulling on the tail (?)looks like a real-life fable illustration... kinda like the monkey is taking the place of Crow in Native American mythology (Crow being the Loki-type character in stories...). And once you get all of that well then you have the hippo in close proximity seemingly ignoring its neighbors' antics but if you know hippos (like horses or buffalo) you know it is totally aware of every single nuance. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it... =P Travel safely~
