DAZ Studio, using Fatale's Demonoid, the Octopus from DAZ, and Abyssal Queen also from DAZ. The demonoid's body is rather feminine in shape, but the character is not female.
I always thought Mind Flayers were modeled after Cthulu by H.P. Lovecraft. A pretty scary series of stories....

I can't remember the last time I saw a piece of art with an illithid in it. Very unique and creative. Outstanding work creating this, classic pose too. Nice lighting and perfect background for this piece.

I think the slim frame and the clawed hands works very well as renditions of the grim braineaters wicked frame - perhaps the head is a bit oversized but then... aren't they overintelligent? ;) The light in the background is also well placed to make it stand out more in a much horror-like style that's very fitting to these creature style - well done! :)
