Description

Back on the theme of the Victorian Town Museum. These were two Bernise Mountain Dogs that are used to pull the Goat Cart pictured in the background. around the times of early 1900's wealthier members of the community would have had made a minature size carriage for their children and back then they would be traditionally pulled by two goats. Today the Museum "employs" these two magnificent dogs to do the same work. When me and JeffG7BRJ first noticed them they were sleeping in a shed and we couldn't get close to take a picture but passing by later the gentleman whose job it is to harness them up etc. was only too pleased to bring them out for a photo. We didn't catch them working. Another unfortunate point was that the cart had a large sign covering most of the front which didn't help when trying to get a full pic. But I'm pleased with this one. Thanks for dropping by.

I'm glad you posted these Alan, I did get a couple of shots but nothing like this one. They were indeed friendly dogs but then the owner was there and they were very obedient, he let them out told them to sit and stay, and that is what they did. We both walked between them and the just sat there. One of them did bark and threw back its head, the owner told us that it had done this a couple of times and actually fell over backwards, it had thrown its head back with so much force. This is an excellent shot Alan, the clarity and detail is fantastic. They were beautiful dogs and you have captured that here. Bravo!!!!!

Very nice shot of these dogs. We do not see many here. Its interesting they would pull the goat cart. When I was 10 or so, I used to ride around the pastures in a goat cart. I found out goats can be somewhat disagreeable. Perhaps these service dogs are a better choice. :-)
