Description

First off, apologies for the quality of this...I'll explain it shortly. This is Marco, the bassist of Nightwish. They're one of my all time favorite bands and I've only been listening to them for 2 years or so now. Amazing mix of metal and classical influences, especially on the older albums with their previous lead singer Tarja. That's their current lead, Anette Olzon, washed out in the lighting. So...the story. I saw them last Friday at Slim's in San Francisco. I've been to one other show there, so I knew going in that their camera policy was set by the bands the day of the show. Knowing that I called that afternoon and was told that digitals were ok as long as they weren't professional quality which they defined as having detatchable lenses and flashes. So I show up with my Sony DSC-H2 which while quite nice certainly has no removable lenses and flashes and was told it violated the policy!! What the hell's the use of telling people a policy if you're going to change it seemingly at a whim?!? They said it was the band, which it could have been (even probably was), but seems like they should have known it better when they told me the first time (I had to call back half an hour after I called the first time so they could check with the band in the first place) So anyway...this was shot with my brother's Blackberry. It looks much better on his small screen. LOL. Have one or two others that sort of came out, but this was the best. Maybe some day I'll get a decent shot at a concert, but I'm guessing maybe not too. lol Anyway, thanks for the comments on the Shadow image...the final version of that should be up later tonight. John

for some reason he looks very familiar to me...hmmm....lol, it's "another" story altogether as to why this bass player is "familiar". perhaps there are a few others whom this shot would be oddly familiar to. lol, sorry for sounding too mysterious with the comment, i wish i could share the story out loud but i digress. great capture hon!!!

Apparently your brother wasn't the only one using a camera phone. grin For being shot with the phone, it's still a good one.

Well, hey you gave it a "shot" eh- but the little $H!TS... ah well- like you said what the hell use is a policy that they seem to change at a whim.. hey that sounds awfully familiar! I think there is some artist website that does the exact same thing... :) heheheh!!! Anyway, great shot considering the constraints of what equipment you could use- but this looks great for a phone camera!

A fabulous capture of Nightwish! Anette Olzon is doing well too but she can definitely not replace Tarja Turunen! Last month I saw a concert with Dimmu Borgir and Amon Amarth! It was fantastic!!!
