Description

Guadalupe Mountains National Park McKittrick Canyon Ok, no more national geographic explanations of the canyon...lol... :) This picture is to my right as we head into the canyon. Look at the picture full size, for best view! All comments and advice are welcome. If you are seeing this series for the first time, I explain all about this place with the first four pictures posted. Thank y'all for all the comments and advice on my last post. Y'all are great. I'm working on it, but I'm still feeling a bit challenged by that harsh landscape. It's so far from my experience up here . . . I do love being able to see the bones of the earth that way, though. The folds of the land are so easy to see there. But wow - the clouds are fantastic! Look at that - they're so perfect above that ridge. I keep thinking you should have upped the contrast on the landscape a bit, although the color of the sky is perfect, so maybe it's just that my brain can't get itself around those pale colors. Keep 'em coming, my friend! By the end of the hike I hope to be able to see this more through your eyes! :)

This scenery both fascinates and shocks me. I know its out there, but like Tara, this is so far from my experience that it could be a moonscape! I love that clear sky, and your view is great.

When there isn't even a buzzard in the sky, ya gotta stop to think about a place like this. I'm all for looking under rocks to find wildlife but that doesn't even look like much of an option here either. I'm not like many of the others - I am familiar with this type of landscape and have actually camped in it but it still doesn't endear me to it. Your photograph, though, is very accurate and well done.

the cacti is beautiful, but I had my fill of cacti in Nevada.I got a thorn in my finger that must of had barbs because I could not pull it out.I thought I had it all but 2 weeks later I got another piece out.very barren like the majority of west Texas,New Mexico,Arizona,Nevada and Mexico
