Description


This is one of the many "Herring Runs" (man made fish ladders to assist the Herring to spawn)here in the New England area. This one is on the property of the old Tremont Nail Factory in Wareham, Massachusetts. Thank you for taking the time to view and comment.

Aw, heck! You got herring ladders and we have salmon ladders! I had no idea that herring acted much like salmon. I'm learning a lot more than photography here. Where do they start? Our salmon come in from the pacific ocean, travel up the delta about 90 miles and then begin the climb over dams and reservoirs and divergents via ladders that take them to the right river branch to reach their spawning grounds. The salmon run and the striper run are the two most prized time of year for sport fishermen around here. How very interesting - about herrings!

we also have a salmon run on the river tees where i live .it is at the side of the barrage that was built to stop flooding in the area . very intersting art and an excellent pic mick
