Description

While I was waiting for the early morning birds to come close enough, I sat crouched behind some bushes facing a group of trees that I knew was a favorite perch for the one bird I was waiting for. I happened to look behind me across the marsh and was very surprised to see several deer wading in the shallow water to forage on the tender and succulent water plants. This little doe is eating a plant called 'parrot's feather', which is a common plant sold for use in koi ponds. The white tailed deer are small and dainty compared to the large mule deer of my native Colorado. With hunting season on, I was glad to see this sweet little doe safely grazing in this semi-protected environment and proud and that I was shooting with only my camera. Thanks very much for your generous views and comments. I appreciate it.

Oh my, who needs to watch a Snow White movie for a doe when we have this? Terrific POV, clarity, colors and lighting effects in this photo of one of the most innocent creatures in the world. Super well done!!!

White tail are delicate for sure. I had black tail on my property and that is much like a cross between the mule deer and the white tail. This is a fabulous shot. You are so lucky to be in the right place at the right time!

You don't get many chances at a shot like this, its lovely to see her there but one sharp movement from you and away she goes, with nothing to view except her tail. Excellent shot, you are one lucky lady. Bravo!!!!!

Stunning photo, with true feel-good factor. Adorable creature. Maybe a bit central, but I think I'd have been too excited to think about my composition at this point, so I can't really fault you!

The animals seen free in the wild are so much more beautiful than the best captures in the zoos... Excellent photo, Maria ! emoticones-content-072.gif (In fact, I'm jealous... I would love to take such a picture...) Congratulations for your selection in LWitG (Last Week in the Gallery – week 45-2007 ) !
