Description

This is an astilbe that I rescued from the garden centre where I work. I gave it to my sister. It did not take her long to restore this baby. At the end of the season in the garden centre is the best time to get some plants that are no longer looking great so they are sold off for a very cheap price. I sometimes take the worst looking ones because they are headed to the composter. This astilbe was looking horrible. Not now though. You got to love working in a garden centre..

Awesome capture! That looks like my garden. I have seven different colors of astilbe, and they're next to the tall, yellow water iris. Is it any wonder I like this shot? :)

I am the same. At work we have a plant service in the building. They often have to replace plants that aren't thriving because they are used in bad areas for plants or dry out too quickly under the heat vents, etc. I have an understanding with the crew that services the common areas and individual offices that I will take any and all plants being pulled that will be tossed in the dumpster. 90% of the time, I bring the plant back to health. I simply can't stand to discard life (even plant life) until it is totally gone. Lovely capture and lovely story.

Beautiful flower and cool story. All the plants I try to grow end up in the dumpster. You have heard of brown thumb, I am worse than that! :) Todd
