Description

Brookwood Cemetery was consecrated by the Bishop of Winchester on 7 November 1854 and opened to the public on 13 November 1854. At that time Brookwood Cemetery was the largest burial ground in the world. Today this is no longer true, but it remains the largest Cemetery in the UK, and is probably the biggest in Western Europe. Since 1854, over 235,000 people have been buried here. Thank you for looking, as always any comments or suggestions welcome 8~) **Best Viewed Full Size**

This is a positively GORGEOUS image, I love the crisp colors in it, and the textures of the old gravestones. A restful mood is implied here, and I like the interesting tree on the right--the sinuous shape of its branches is a great contrast to the rectangular regularity of some of the graves. Fantastic contrasts there. Great work all around.
