Description

Yes I know I said yesterdays was the last from Ironbridge, this one is, honest! Aled said he would like to see the coloured version, this is taken at a slightly different angle. The Great Iron Bridge: Out forebearers may have invented heavy industry but in stark contrast to many of today's industrial projects, they never forgot the power of elegance or the impotance of beauty. Nowhere is this more artfully expressed than in the graceful lines and soaring arches of the WORLD'S first Iron Bridge. Rightfully it dominates the landscape as the enduring symbol of our Industrial Revolution. Thanks for stopping by and for any comments you care to make. May the sun shine down on you, where ever you are.

This is a stunning shot of the bridge Jeff. And although I was happy to capture it with frosty mist for added atmosphere, I wouldn't have minded a wonderfully clear shot like this, so I'm going to add it to my faves. I still look back in amazement at the incredible Human acheivement, with the sheer guts and determination to make dreams become reality.

I did not realize how tall the fence was until seeing a person on the bridge.maybe he was there yesterday and I never noticed.I like both versions but prefer the color

It is surely a lovely shot of a beautiful bridge but here comes a little disappointment: it wasn't the first iron bridge in the world: according to Judith Dupré'("Bridges", Black Dog & Leventhal Publishers Inc.) It wasn't revolutionairy either however it was the first important construction made of cast iron. But history aside I think it is a very charming bridge (and I have a slight preference for the sepia shot)

I'm fascinated by the gracefulness of this bridge. The details used in the construction are so varied! Your shot is great. I can really see the vine-colored house under the bridge and the top of the brick one is a good balance.
